Some Scientific and Technical Highlights:
  • Co-invented (with Peter Steinberg) and named the “participant eccentricity” variable which, after development with Constantin Loizides and Gunther Roland, became a standard in heavy ion physics at RHIC and the LHC.
  • Played a lead role in the PHOBOS discovery of “extended longitudinal scaling” in heavy ion physics.
  • Invented (with advice from Bill Zajc) a fast approximate “full Coulomb correction” method for HBT used in AGS E866, PHOBOS@RHIC, and  PHENIX@RHIC.
  • Modifed Lund program LEPTO for deep inelastic scattering to include kinematic azimuthal asymmetry effects to O(αs) while also debugging the code (along with derivative codes DJANGO & PEPSI).
  • Fixed a non-physical target remnant “feature” in PYTHIA6.
  • Collaborator in the development of the Monte Carlo modeling code BeAGLE (Benchmark eA Generator for LEptoproduction) from 2015-2023.
